How to reach Jizerka (by car)

From Prague / Mladá Boleslav / Jablonec / Tanvald

Take I/10 to Harrachov – Kořenov, turn to Horní Polubný, then continue to Jizerka (Mořina car park). Works year-round. In winter consider snow chains (the last section is only ploughed).

From Frýdlant area / Hejnice / Nové Město p. Smrkem

Outside winter: via Bílý Potok – Smědava – SoušKořenov – Horní Polubný – Jizerka (shortest).
In winter: the Smědava – Souš section is closed. Use the detour via Liberec – Jablonec – Tanvald – Kořenov – Horní Polubný – Jizerka.

From Poland (Jakuszyce / Harrachov)

Harrachov → Kořenov → Horní Polubný → Jizerka (Mořina). The Smědava–Souš closure does not affect this route.

Parking: we recommend Jizerka – Mořina (paid). On peak days, arrive early.

What happens in winter on the Smědava–Souš (II/290) section?

It becomes part of the Jizerská Magistrála. Cross-country trails are groomed and motor vehicles are banned.

Who does the ban apply to?

To all motor vehicles with no public exceptions. Service access is handled by the road operator.

Can I reach Jizerka via Smědava in winter?

No. Winter transit is not possible. Use Kořenov – Horní Polubný – Jizerka (Mořina).

Where should I park if I’m going to Jizerka?

Visitor / restaurant: park at Jizerka – Mořina (paid car park) and continue on foot.
Hotel guest: park directly at your hotel in Jizerka — only according to your accommodation’s instructions (reservation / access permit).

Do I need snow chains?

On the approach Kořenov → Horní Polubný → Jizerka the road is ploughed only; chains may be needed depending on conditions. The Smědava–Souš section is not drivable in winter.

When is it typically closed/open?

Usually mid-November → late March / April. Check the current dates at the top in “What applies now”.

Does the ban include taxis / 4×4 / buses?

Yes. It applies to all motorised vehicles; it is not a public transit road in winter.
